COACH Ramil de Jesus admitted the loss of recognized leader Aby Marano leaves a big void for Shopinas.com in its campaign in the Philippine Super Liga All-Filipino conference.

Marano chose not to stay with De Jesus and her former La Salle teammates when Shopinas.com absorbed the core of the former Generika franchise, instead taking her act to Petron.

After the Lady Clickers made their league debut on Thursday night, de Jesus acknowledged there is a certain void in the team following Marano's surprise exit.

“Malaking bagay ang kawalan ni Aby,” said de Jesus after Shopinas.com’s 25-22, 25-22, 16-25, 25-12, win over Mane ‘N Tail at the Alonte Sports Arena in Binan, Laguna.

“Unang una, nawala ang leadership, kasi ‘di ba napaka-vocal niya 'pag nasa loob siya ng court, ‘yung intensity niya maglaro, ‘yung energy, at ‘yung atake,” added the multi-titled coach.

“Definitely walang bumibigay (ng mga bagay na kaya ni Aby),” he admitted.

De Jesus coached Marano at La Salle for five years and they won three straight UAAP titles togehter from 2011-13.

The two also partnered to steer Generika to back-to-back runner-up finishes in the Super Liga last season along with the help of former La Salle stars Michele Gumabao and Melissa Gohing.

Both Gohing and Gumabao are now part of expansion team Philips Gold, with  former Lady Spikers stars Cha Cruz and Paneng Mercado along with blocker Micmic Laborte sticking it out with de Jesus at Shopinas.
