RC Cola Army management ruled out Rachel Anne Daquis from its knockout semifinal gamr on Thursday against Foton in the Philippine Super Liga All Filipino Conference when the league goes to Malolos, Bulacan.

Lady Troopers coach Kungfu Reyes opted not to field in Daquis, who suffered a partial plantar aponeurotic tear on her left heel during their match against the Tornadoes last Saturday.

Reyes said it’s better for the 28-year old outside hitter to sit out and recover fully from the torn muscle, saying he expects the team to fill the offensive void to be left by Daquis.

“Rachel delivers around 15 to 17 points a night, mahirap hanapin ‘yun,” he said. “(But) we just have to work hard to cover her absence offensively.”

Daquis wanted to play but will follow the order of Reyes and team physical therapist Paula Tomas.

“Kung ako ang tatanungin, gusto ko makalaro sa Thursday pero syempre si Coach Kungfu and ‘yung team mas pinili kung saan ako safe and maka-fully recover,” said the FIVB World Club Women’s Championship-bound spiker.

RC Cola Army, which is on a four-game losing skid, will bank on the offense of skipper Jovelyn Gonzaga, Royse Tubino and Nene Bautista.
