GENERIKA moved into the battle for fifth place after edging hapless Amy’s Kitchen, 21-25, 25-17, 25-23, 25-14, on Thursday in the Philippine Super Liga All Filipino Conference at Malolos Sports and Convention Center in Bulacan.

The Life Savers dispute fifth place with the winner of the match between Cignal and Standard Insurance Navy.

Chloe Cortez scored 21 points on built on 15 kills, four blocks and two service aces, to go with six digs for Generika, which struggled mostly on its service.

“Ang naging sakit ng team ko is the usual – service,” said Life Savers coach Francis Vicente.

“Masyadong maraming service errors tapos hindi pa ma-execute ‘yung type ng serving na nasa game plan namin. It’s a good thing nakarecover kami sa dulo.”

Rubie de Leon set up combination plays for Ria Meneses and Cortez as the Life Savers took an 8-1 lead in the second set and never looked back.

De Leon and Gen Casugod each had nine points for Generika, while Shaya Adorador and Meneses had seven markers apiece.

University of Perpetual Help’s Cindy Imbo and Lourdes Clemente combined for 21 points for Amy’s Kitchen, which still has a chance to salvage seventh place when it takes in the loser of the Cignal-Navy match.
