Petron stakes perfect slate against Cignal HD as Super Liga goes to Laguna

PETRON looks to widen the gap from its pursuers as the league-leading Blaze Spikers battle Cignal HD on Thursday in the Philippine Super Liga at the Alonte Sports Arena in Binan, Laguna.

The Blaze Spikers are unbeaten in three matches, although they needed five sets to defeat in their last match.

Now the star-studded Petron squad featuring Dindin Santiago-Manabat, Rachel Anne Daquis, Aby Maraño, Maica Morada and Fille Cainglet-Cayetano hopes to score a more comfortable win, but Cignal is also eager to score a big win.

The match starts at 6:15 p.m.

Cignal, which underwent a total roster revamp before the conference, started with two losses before scoring its first win, against expansion team Philips Gold.

Rookies Janine Navarro of College of St. Benilde and Carmela Tunay from University of Santo Tomas are again expected to lead the way as the HD Spikers look to even their record.

Foton tries to stay within striking distance of Petron as it faces Mane 'N Tail in the 4:15 p.m. match.

The Tornadoes, who finished fifth in a six-team tournament last year, is in second spot with a 2-1 slate.

Leading the Tornadoes are Nicole Tiamzon of University of the Philippines and Pam Lastimosa of UST and veteran Patty Orendain.
