Petron simply too good in three-set demolition of Cignal in Super Liga GP
Stephanie Niemer goes down the line for a spike against Cignal. Jerome Ascano

PETRON clobbered skidding Cignal, 25-18, 25-20, 25-17 to tighten its grip on the No. 1 spot in the Philippine Super Liga Grand Prix at The Arena in San Juan on Thursday.

American import Stephanie Niemer finished with 15 points to one again led the way for the Tri-Activ Spikers, who improved to 8-1.

The prolific hitter got a lot of help from skipper Ces Molina and Aiza Maizo-Pontillas, who made 11 markers apiece.

“Medyo malaking bagay na nakakapag-perform na ang mga locals pero sabi nga namin, mas kailangan pa rin mag-step up kasi I’m sure babantayan ang mga imports namin especially si Niemer so ready lang lagi,” said Petron coach Shaq delos Santos.

Cignal import Lynda Morales, who missed her third consecutive match, could only watch her teammates absorb their sixth loss in seven outings.

Janine Marciano finished with 11 points for Cignal.
