Cignal boosts chances of salvaging fifth place with straight-sets victory over Navy

CIGNAL whipped Standard Insurance Navy, 25-15, 25-22, 25-18, on Saturday for its second win in three matches in the classification round of the Philippine Super Liga All Filipino Conference at The Arena in San Juan.

Jeanette Panaga scored 16 points from 12 kills, three blocks and a service ace as the HD Spikers boosted its chances of salvaging fifth place.

Janine Navarro scored 11 points and Mic-Mic Laborte added 10 for Cignal.

“Ibig sabihin nito na-a-absorb na nila mga tinuturo ko,” said Cignal coach Sammy Acaylar.

“Sa mga practice nila hindi ko na sila pine-pressure, ’di ko na sila binibigyan ng mga strenuous activities kasi that’s my approach now. I want them to enjoy na lang the game.”

Florence Madulid scored eight points for Standard Insurance Navy, which holds a 1-1 win-loss card.
