STANDARD Insurance Navy took seventh place, scoring a 25-13, 25-17, 19-25, 25-9 victory on Sunday as Amy's Kitchen had a winless campaign in the Philippine Super Liga All Filipino Conference at The Arena in San Juan.

The Corvettes slipped in the third set but recovered to complete the victory over hapless Perpetual Help Spikers, who failed to score a win in 11 matches.

Former Adamson top hitter Pau Soriano led the Corvettes with 18 points, 15 from attacks, while Carissa Martinez and Hezzymie Acuna each had 10 markers.

“Not bad, ’yun lang kinaya ng powers natin, pasalamat pa din tayo,” said Standard Insurance Navy coach Nene Ybanez-Chavez.

“Ang project mga top four, ambisyosa ’yung coach, ‘di naka top 4,” she added, admitting she had some mistakes during the conference.

“Minsan talaga pag coach, aminin natin hindi lahat ng desisyon tama. Pero meron din ano, na maka-learn ka rin sa mistake, may time naman para ma correct,” said Ybanez-Chavez, a member of the last Philippine team to win a gold in the Southeast Asian Games in 1993.

Lourdes Clemente scored 11 points, while Jowie Albert Verzosa added 10 for Amy’s Kitchen.
