Dilemma for coach Francis Vicente as Philips Gold set to leave PSL for V-League
Coach Francis Vicente says he is still with Philips Gold, but he has yet to commit to joining the Lady Slammers in the V-League.

COACH Francis Vicente is torn between two volleyball leagues as his club makes the big switch.

Days after SPIN.ph reported that Philips Gold is set to leave Philippine Super Liga in favor of the Shakey's V-League, Vicente is uncertain on what the future holds for him.

“Mahirap magsalita kasi management prerogative ’yan eh so ako nalilito ako, magulo pa rin ang isipan ko,” said Vicente, who also calls the shots for University of the East in the UAAP.

The veteran mentor said either way, it would be a difficult decision for him due to his working relationship with the Philips Gold management and friendship with the people running the PSL.

“Mga kaibigan ko ’yung nasa PSL, kaibigan ko rin si attorney (team manager Eric Ty) so tinitimbang ko pa kung ano ang mangyayari,” he said.

“Kasi sa akin as a professional syempre sinwelduhan ka na, so alangan naman basta-basta mo na lang bibitawan, pangit naman on my part, unprofessional naman ’yun, he added.

“Syempre I have to take consideration pa rin na ’yung PSL, isa rin ’yan sa tumulong sa akin sa coaching ko, kung hindi naman dahil sa kanila hindi ko makikilala si attorney. So nagkakaroon ng mixed emotions kung ano ’yung iisipin ko, kung saang direksyon,” he continued.

Vicente said he is in no rush to make a decision.

“As of now, nandoon pa rin ako sa Philips Gold pero I’m still thinking kung mag-stay ako rito o mag-stay ako sa kabila, depende,” he said.

“Ayaw ko mag-jump kasi nage-enjoy ako rito sa kabila eh, kay attorney maganda naman ‘yung treatment nila sa akin, sa kabila naman (PSL) puro mga kaibigan natin ‘yan. Ang hirap din kumalas.”

The former national team coach, however, admitted that he was shocked that the team is leaving the PSL.

“Ako mismo nagulat bakit naging ganoon,” he revealed. “Although naipapaliwanag na pero wala pa talagang, noong nag-uusap kami, wala pang final decision ‘yun. So possibility mag-V-League, possibility mag-PSL pa rin.”

Vicente refused to divulge the reason behind Philips Gold's decision.

“Hindi ko pwedeng sabihin kasi off the record ‘yun,” he said.
