Baron gets chance to win second championship in three days after F2 Logistics callup

F2 Logistics has added former La Salle middle blocker Major Baron to its lineup on the eve of its winner-take-all match against Petron for the Philippine Super Liga Grand Prix title.

Cargo Movers team manager Hollie Reyes confirmed the news on Friday, saying Baron will come in as a replacement after Fritz Gallenero sustained a shoulder injury during training.

The switch gives the towering Baron the opportunity to gun for another championship, just three days after winning a third successive UAAP title in her final year with the Lady Spikers.

Reyes said the team has already presented a medical certificate to the PSL and the league has allowed Baron to see action since she was on the reserve list that was submitted during the general technical meeting prior to the start of the conference.

Reyes added that they have already informed Petron about the change.

“There’s nothing wrong there because it is our privilege to maximize our lineup,” said Reyes. “We know that our middle blockers are peaking so we will put her there for defensive purposes.”

It wasn't the first time in the tournament that a team made last-minute changes to its lineup.

Petron also made the switch when American import Katherine Bell came over to replace Hillary Hurley, who was sent home due to her recurring ankle injury.
