F2 Logistics braces for a tough title retention bid in the Philippine Super Liga Grand Prix, which kicks off on Saturday at Ynares Sports Arena in Pasig City.

The Cargo Movers will face Cocolife on February 24 at Bacoor Sports Center, while in the season-opening match, former two-time Grand Prix champion Foton and Generika will clash at 2:00 p.m. followed by the Petron-Sta. Lucia showdown at 4:00 p.m. at Ynares Sports Arena.

The Cargo Movers, who defeated Petron in last year’s edition, are wary with the rest of the competition raring to take the throne.

“Mahirap pa rin ang training. Actually naghahanda pa rin kami kasi kami ang defending champion so kung last year mahirap na ang training, ngayon nag-double time pa rin kami kasi dahil kami ang hinahabol ng teams ngayon,” said F2 Logistics assistant coach Noel Orcullo on Thursday during the press conference at Centerstage MOA.

The long-time deputy of multi-titled coach Ramil de Jesus also noted that the team will try to fill up the void left by current La Salle players - Kim Dy, Majoy Baron, Des Cheng, Tin Tiamzon, Aduke Ogunsanya, CJ Saga and Dawn Macandili.

F2 Logistics tapped University of Perpetual Help middle blocker Lourdes Clemente, College of St. Benilde setter Pauline Cardiente, Japanese libero Yoshioka Minami, who suited up for Iriga, and former Ateneo star spiker Michelle Morente according to team manager Hollie Reyes.

“Madaming hindi makakalaro na UAAP players kaya nagdagdag kami. Maganda naman dahil nagco-complement naman sa team,” said Orcullo.

F2 Logistics mainstays Aby Marano, Kim Fajardo, Cha Cruz will lead the team, while returning imports Maria Jose Perez of Venezuela and Kenny Bryan from the US will beef up the team.

Meanwhile, Cignal starts its campaign on February 24 and newcomer Smart will face Cocolife on February 27.
