DEFENDING champion F2 Logistics swept Foton, 25-19,25-18, 25-21, to book a return trip to the finals of the Philippine Super Liga Grand Prix on Thursday at The Arena in San Juan.

MVP Maria Jose Perez of Venezuela led the Cargo Movers with 21 points, while American import Kennedy Bryan scored 10.

“Yes I think the mindset of the players is talagang ready na to defend the title,” said F2 Logistics coach Arnold Laniog. “And also ‘yung chemistry talaga, nakikita namin na mas gumaganda, mas tumitibay.”

It was a surprisingly much quicker win for F2 Logistics, which needed four sets to stop Foton in the opener of the best-of-three semis.

The Cargo Movers face the winner of the semifinal series between Petron and Cocolife.

Game One of the best-of-three finals is on May 1 at The Arena in San Juan.

“Coming from dun sa last game, talagang credit sa kung paano namin pinag-aralan yung game, kung paano kami makaka-take advantage,” said Laniog.

F2 Logistics scored more attacks (43-38) and had fewer errors (11-21) in the match that took an hour and 27 minutes to finish.

Laniog was glad to see the team stick with the game plan, which is to let Channon Thompson and Dindin Santiago-Manabat get the first ball, execute a more effective scoring at the middle and setter Kim Fajardo to create smart plays for her attackers.

“We try to push especially the outside hitters, yung Thompson and Manabat na maka-misreceive, which is nangyari kanina unlike nung first game hindi nangyari,” he said.

“And also nung last game, dinominate nila kami in terms of block,” he added. “Maganda talaga (‘yung playmaking ni Kim), kung paano nya mina-neuver ‘yung atake namin.”

American reinforcement Elizabeth Wendell and Thompson of Trinidad and Tobago combined for 21 points for Foton.
