Dzi Gervacio mends fences with PSL as former Ateneo standout returns to Foton
Dzi Gervacio returns to Foton for the PSL Grand Prix

DZI Gervacio is all set for her return to Foton after a two-year absence in the Philippine Super Liga Grand Prix, which kicks off on October 21.

The former Ateneo star, who suited up for different club teams in the past two years, formalized her comeback to the Tornadoes camp on Friday when she met with Foton team owner Rommel Sytin, PSL president Tats Suzara, PSL chairman Philip Juico and the PSL board.

Suzara expressed his gratitude to Sytin, who was the one responsible for bridging the gap between him and Gervacio, who has criticized the PSL president recently for the issue involving the release of International Transfer Certificates of foreign players in the Premier Volleyball League Reinforced Conference.

Last May, Gervacio joined a number of players who took to social media to voice their frustration on the issue, using the hashtag #IbigayMoNaTatsSuzara on Twitter. They believe Suzara, who is also the chairman of the marketing and development committee of the Asian Volleyball Confederation (AVC) and an active member of the International Volleyball Federation (FIVB), had something to do with the delay of the processing of the ITC

But all seems well between Gervacio and Suzara, thanks to the intervention of Sytin.

“Mr. Sytin, thank for this win-win-win approach to this issue. The Superliga will give its best in enhancing the potential of each team and each player that plays in the league,” he said in a statement. “Ms. Gervacio would be assured that she will be treated the same as the other players.”

“I respect Mr. Sytin and admire him for his decision to settle all things among the PSL, our stakeholders, our players and prove that negativity has no place in our quest to become one of the leading sports leagues in the country,” added Suzara.

Gervacio suited up for theTornadoes in the 2014 Grand Prix and the 2015 All-Filipino Conference, where she suffered an ACL injury on her left knee after landing on a foot as she went up for a spike..

After her recovery, she saw action in the Shakey’s V-League Season 13 Open and Reinforced Conferences under BaliPure and the following year she was the team captain for Perlas in the PVL Reinforced Conference.
