CIGNAL spiker Jannine Marciano was stretchered off the court after an awkward landing in the third set of a match against Cocolife in the Philippine Super Liga Grand Prix on Thursday at The Arena in San Juan.

The former San Beda standout was holding on to her left knee while medics checked on her on the spot where she fell after her spike was blocked by Cocolife star Michele Gumabao.

She was immediately rushed to their locker room and was set to be taken to a hospital for an examination, just two weeks after Cignal opposite spiker Jovelyn Gonzaga sustained a muscle strain.

Cignal lost the match, 23-25, 23-25, 20-25.

PSL resident physician Raul Alcantara said the initial assessment was a left knee ligament sprain.

“Moderate pain seven out of 10, minimal swelling as of now, nakakatayo at nakakahakbang ng ilan steps pero pag pa-squat hindi na kaya,” said Alcantara.

“Ligament sprain (ang initial assessment) but dadalhin siya ngayon sa Cardinal Santos (Hospital) for MRI,” he added.
