DINDIN Santiago-Manabat has been named the first-ever Player of the Week of the Philippine Super Liga.

The 6-foot-1 middle hitter scored 13 in leading the Blaze Spikers to a straight-sets win over expansion team Philips Gold in the conference opener, and came up with 23 as Petron survived a tough four-setter against Foton in the All Filipino conference.

"Hopefully magtuluy-tuloy ang magandang performance ni Dindin," said Petron coach George Pascua.

Santiago-Manabat beat teammate Rachel Anne Daquis, who has played only one match after missing the opener, and Foton rookie Nicole Tiamzon for the citation given by writers covering the league.

Petron is alone on top, followed by Foton and Shopinas.com with 2-1 win-loss records, followed by sister teams Mane 'N Tail and Philips Gold, both at 1-2, and Cignal at 0-2.

PSL will take a one week break in observance of the Holy Week and play will resume on April 6.
