CIGNAL beat Petron, 15-25, 25-22, 25-18, 25-19, on Saturday to keep its unbeaten slate in the Philippine Super Liga All-Filipino Conference at the Filoil Flying V Centre.

Jovelyn Gonzaga finished with 16 points, 14 of them on attacks including the match-winning spike as the HD Spikers climbed to 2-0 (win-loss) to join Foton at the top of the team standings.

"'Yung players sa Petron, very familiar na rin sa akin kahit papaano," said Cignal coach George Pascua after taking a win against his former team.

"Madali na lang 'yung adjustment. Kailangan lang ma-dominate natin 'yung kalaban kasi malalaki 'yung gitna nila kaya 'yung blockings, kailangan 'yung paandar sa kanila."

Honey Royse Tubino added 13 points for the HD Spikers, who overcame a first-set wobble to deal the Blaze Spikers their first loss in two games.

Led by Tubino, Cignal made a run of six points to break a 6-6 deadlock in the fourth set and wrest control.

Ces Molina led Petron on the back of a 7-0 run for a 13-12 lead, but the edge proved short-lived as Cignal - aided by Petron errors - finished the game with a flourish.

Molina and Aiza Maizo-Pontillas each had 11 points while Sisi Rondina, who had 21 points in Petron's win against F2 Logistics last Thursday, had 10 for the Blaze Spikers.
