RC Cola Army arranged a knockout semis faceoff with Foton after crushing Generika, 25-20, 25-19, 25-19, on Sunday in the Philippine Super Liga Grand Prix at the PhilSports Arena.

Jovelyn Gonzaga once again led the Lady Troopers with 13 points, four digs and five excellent receptions, while American imports Hailie Ripley and Kierra Holst added 12 and 11 markers, respectively.

Army scored more on attacks, 48-31, while veteran setter Tina Salak registered 23 of the team’s 28 excellent sets in a match that took an hour and 21 minutes to finish.

“’Di naman namin iniisip na makukuha namin in straight sets, based lang sa training namin, based sa mga dating laro dun kami kumuha ng gagawin sa training,” said RC Cola Army assistant coach Rico de Guzman, who called the shots for RC Cola Army as head coach Kungfu Reyes handled the University of Sto. Tomas team in the UAAP girls’ volleyball finals.

“Sa opensa wala namang problema, ang problema namin sa footwork at block ng mga import namin so ‘yung ginawa namin ni coach Kungfu sa program, puro service receive and target namin sino mag re-receive,” he added.

The fourth-seeded Lady Troopers will take on defending champion Tornadoes on December 3 in Legazpi City.

The Life Savers play in the battle for fifth against the loser of the match between F2 Logistics and Cignal.

“Based kay coach Kungfu ibababa namin ang training pagdating ng semis, focus kami sa service receive and papabilisin namin ang footwork ng import,” said de Guzman.

Ukrainian import Polina Liutikova scored 10 points, while Darlene Ramdin from Trinidad and Tobago had nine points for Generika, while Ria Meneses added nine markers.
