BACOLOD City — “Pagpaguran niyo ang gusto niyo.”
That was the piece of advice that Petron star Mika Reyes gave fans during the meet-and-greet session of Philippine Super Liga players at SM Bacolod on Friday.
Although it was a school day, the activity center was full of volleyball fans wanting to see their idols up close and Reyes turned on the charm during a question-and-answer segment with fans.
“Syempre, habaan niyo ‘yung pasensiya niyo kung hindi niyo makuha agad ‘yung gusto niyong makuha,” said Reyes when asked how one can achieve success.
“Hindi niyo naman siya makukuha agad overnight, pagpapaguran niyo 'yun,” she added.
The former La Salle star's success story is a testament to hardwork and perseverance.
Reyes admits that she's not the most gifted volleyball player, but got to where she is now by being among those who work the hardest and being the last one to give up.
The pride of Pulilan, Bulacan has three UAAP titles under her belt as well as two PSL titles with Petron. She was also part of the national team that competed in the 2017 AVC Asian Senior Women’s Championships and the Southeast Asian Games.
“Ako honestly ilang years ko talaga pinagpaguran and until now I’m still learning,” she said ahead of Petron's match against F2 Logistics on Saturday at the University of St. La Salle on Saturday.
