MIKA Reyes emerged from the F2 Logistics dugout with a sweet smile on her face, not only because of their win over Cignal to start their campaign in the Philippine Super Liga All Filipino Conference, but also because of her graduation early in the day.
The former La Salle star, who was still ecstatic about her commencement exercises, did not mind playing a four-setter over the HD Spikers, 25-12, 23-25, 25-20, 25-11, and in fact looked fresh even after such a long day.
“Grabe, 5 a.m. gising na ako!” exclaimed Reyes, who came from the Philippine International Convention Center in Pasay then rushed to San Juan for the game.
From her dainty white lace dress and nude high heels shoes, Reyes changed into her playing uniform and rubber shoes as she finished with nine points in the match.
“Sobrang sarap ng feeling na finally naka-graduate na ako pero, volleyball is life nga, so right after pumunta kaagad ako dito,” she added.
Reyes then looked forward to capping off her big day, especially celebrating her graduation with her family.
“Magce-celebrate kami syempre once in a lifetime lang ‘to. Hindi ko na palalampasin. Five years kong hinintay ‘to eh,” she said.
The pride of Pulilan, Bulacan was also proud to share that she was chosen to be a speaker during their recognition rites.
On Wednesday, Reyes talked about her humble beginnings, her struggles and successes before her batchmates in the College of Liberal Arts.
“Kasi ‘yung sa college namin, ‘yung assistant dean I think, he asked me na magshare ako ng something na pwede ko i-share sa college ko. Syempre sinabi ko how I started from scratch, kung paano ako naka-help sa family ko and kung asan ako ngayon,” she said.
