MAJOY Baron deflected credit after a fine defensive performance as F2 extended its unbeaten start to 10 matches in the Philippine Super Liga All-Filipino Conference.
With nine kill blocks in five sets, Baron helped F2 overcome Generika on Saturday and tighten its grip on the top spot.
“Feel ko nakuha ko lang din yung timing ng atake nila since sobrang aggressive nila mag attack,” Baron told reporters on Saturday.
“Noong mga first two sets, siguro palo lang sila ng palo, power. Yun, nakuha ko na yung timing,” Baron said. “Pero noong pa-end na, huhulog na sila, may variation na so mas nahirapan lang kami doon.”
The former UAAP MVP said coach Ramil de Jesus has always focused on overall defense. She also noted that Dawn Macandili had 43 excellent digs and 12 excellent receptions, while Kalei Mau, although struggling on offense, worked hard protecting the floor and ended up with 23 digs and 16 excellent receptions.
“For me, mas focus namin ang defense kasi yung principle ni coach is, ‘Ang team na madepensa, mahirap talunin.’ Totoo naman yun and kita naman,” said Baron.

F2 had 17 blocks in its first five-set match of the conference.
Baron says F2 needs to learn from the tough match as they approach the crucial part of the tournament.
“Nahirapan kami sa Generika kasi sobrang stable ng wing spikers nila tapos yung floor defense. Tsaka wise sila in terms of attacking,” Baron said.
“For us, maganda yung nangyayari yung nachachallenge yung team namin para mas makita namin yung weakness namin at yung mga kailangan pa i-improve,” she added.
