AFTER starting as teammates in an Indonesian league this year, Petron import Lindsay Stalzer vowed to put aside her friendship with F2 Logistics counterpart Maria Jose Perez for the moment as the Blaze Spikers look to finish off the Cargo Movers in the Philippine Super Liga Grand Prix finals.
Stalzer and the Blaze Spikers will try to end the best-of-three Finals series on Thursday at The Arena in San Juan, while Perez and the Cargo Movers will try to force a rubber match.
In February, the two prolific spikers towed Jakarta Elektrik to its third consecutive title this season in the Proliga, a club league in Indonesia.
“We played on the same team. I have a lot of respect for Maria, she’s a great player and a good friend,” said Stalzer.
“But, you know, she’s across the net, so I’m gonna take it to her and give the best I’ve got,” she added.
While Petron is looking to duplicate its Finals sweep of F2 Logistics like what it did in this year’s All-Filipino Conference, Stalzer is keeping her guard up against a vengeful Cargo Movers team.
“I don’t think it’s gonna be quite as easy in Game Two, they’re definitely gonna go and you know think of anything to stop us so we’ll try to anticipate (what they’ll do) and prepare,” she said.
Game Two is at 7:00 p.m.
