PETRON got off to a hot start in the Philippine Super Liga Grand Prix, scoring a quick 25-13, 25-17, 25-19 victory over Generika-Ayala on Saturday at The Arena in San Juan.
Lindsay Stalzer, who led Foton to back-to-back titles, led the attack for the Blaze Spikers, along with fellow American Hillary Hurley.
Stalzer had 14 points, while Hurley had 14 markers, six digs and nine excellent receptions for Petron.
Locals Mika Reyes and Ria Meneses were also impressive with eight and five points, respectively.
Meneses also scored on two blocks on Generika-Ayala import Katarina Pilepic.
“Sobrang happy kasi lahat nag-deliver. Siyempre kahit sa practice namin, honestly speaking, marami pa rin kaming inaayos na kailangan namin iimprove,” said Petron coach Shaq delos Santos.
“Pero good thing kung sino man ang ipasok namin - starting six, local, import - okay sila,” he added.
Pilepic debuted in the league with 14 points, while returning import Darlene Ramdin chipped in nine.
