Foton Tornadoes make short work of lowly Cignal to gain share of Super Liga lead

The Foton Tornadoes cruise to their eighth win in nine outings.

GENERAL Trias, Cavite — Foton proved too much for Cignal, 25-19, 25-14, 25-16, on Tuesday, extending its winning run to three matches in the Philippine Super Liga Grand Prix at General Trias Sports Center.

Skipper Lindsay Stalzer scored 17 points, while Maika Ortiz added 11 as the Tornadoes scored their eighth win in nine matches.

Foton gained a share of the lead with idle Petron, but Tornadoes coach Moro Branislav said he is not too concerned with the semifinal placing.

"The next games are not important anymore, what's important is that we keep on improving and not slack on our preparation for the semifinals," said the veteran mentor.

Ariel Usher and Jaja Santiago, who played opposite in the match, had eight markers apiece for Foton.

The Tornadoes hardly missed the services of University of Sto. Tomas Tigresses Sisi Rondina and EJ Laure, who had to skip the match to attend class.
