F2 Logistics star setter Kim Fajardo will not be returning for the remainder of the Philippine Superliga Grand Prix.
Cargo Movers head coach Ramil De Jesus said that they won’t risk Fajardo, who is nursing a fractured and dislocated right pinky finger, anymore even if they make it to the Grand Prix Finals.
“Siguro si Fajardo baka out na this season baka All-Filipino na lang yun yung pinaghahandaan namin,” De Jesus told the reporters after taking Game 1 of the best-of-three semifinals with a 25-14, 17-25, 25-16, 25-22 victory over PLDT Home Fibr to take on Tuesday at Arena in San Juan City.
The former De La Salle playmaker suffered the injury from a block attempt on Kalei Mau’s powerful attack in the first round duel of F2 Logistics and United Volleyball Club.
De Jesus is saving Fajardo for their All-Filipino campaign.
“Tanggap na namin yun kasi hindi ko naman pwedeng i-sugal yung condition ni Fajardo baka mas lalo pang hindi makalaro sa All Filipino,” he said.
The Cargo Movers are just a win away from making their third straight Grand Prix Finals appearance and seventh overall since joining the league in 2016.
But De Jesus admitted that Fajardo is still a big loss on their campaign that’s why he is hoping for a consistent play from Alex Cabanos.
“Wala akong problema sa spikers, problema ko talaga since nawala si Fajardo at yung pagiging consistent ni Cabanos,” he said. “May mga times na okay yung set, may mga times na minsan hindi umaabot sa spikers. Minsan nafufrustrate yung spikers yun yung isang kailangang solusyunan habang naglalaro.”
