IT was a tough and grueling day for libero Kath Arado as she absorbed two losses in a day in the 2018 Philippine Superliga.
Arado played for her school University of the East in the Collegiate Grand Slam and for Generika-Ayala in the All-Filipino Conference in the evening.
But in both games, she ended up with a pair of losses on a long Saturday at the Ynares Sports Arena in Pasig City.
The reigning Best Digger and Best Receiver of UAAP had 30 digs and 23 excellent receptions only for UE to fall at the helm of UP, 25-22, 16-25, 22-25, 29-31, before she put up 26 digs and 22 receptions for Generika-Ayala, which succumbed to Foton in five sets, 25-20, 21-25, 14-25, 25-19, 5-15.
For Arado, two games in a day is grueling but losing matches is more tiring.
Siyempre, talo din kasi eh,” she expressed.
But she is looking forward to learn from these losses.
Nakakapagod, pero, wala eh, pinasukan ko 'to,” Arado said.
In fact, Arado said that her mother team, UE, is supporting her in playing for two teams.
“Kailangan ko lang din talaga i-balance,” said Arado referring to the reminder of UE Head Coach Karl Dimaculangan, who is also part of Generika-Ayala coaching staff.
Arado has been turning heads with her relentless floor defense and was even considered to be part of the national team but she begged off in the previous pool created for Asian Games and AVC Cup.
But if given a chance, she is ready to represent the country as long as she finishes her studies first.
“Yung last time talaga, hindi ko sila mapagbigyan kasi sobrang dami kong ginagawa. Ngayon, pwede kung tatanggapin nila ako,” Arado said. Mahirap talaga pagsabay-sabayin lahat. Kailangan ko muna i-condition 'yung sarili ko.“
