KALEI Mau unleashed 23 points as F2 Logistics outlasted defending champion Petron, 25-21, 17-25, 27-25, 25-19, to stay unbeaten in the Philippine Superliga All-Filipino Conference on Thursday at the Arena in San Juan City.
Mau looked every inch the game-changer in this rivalry game as she piled up the points on 21 attacks and two blocks to go with 19 digs as the Cargo Movers kept the solo lead with a 4-0 win-loss record.
“Malaking bagay yung pagdating sa amin ni Kalei. Nakadepensa kami, mayroong go-to-guy yung team,” said F2 Logistics head coach Ramil De Jesus of his Fil-Am hitter.
Ara Galang delivered 18 points off 12 kills, five aces and a block laced with 10 excellent receptions while Aby Maraño added nine markers. Dawn Macandili protected the floor with 26 digs and 13 excellent receptions.
The Cargo Movers overcame their 36 errors and pounced on Sisi Rondina’s absence to deal the Blaze Spikers their first preliminary-round loss after sweeping the past two conferences.
“Hindi naman kompleto yung team nila baka nag-experiment si coach Shaq kasi wala si Rondina din and hindi ma-maximize yung mga tao niya kasi alam naman natin yung pagkawala ni Rondina malaking bagay,” De Jesus added.
Bernadeth Pons had 18 points and 27 digs while Ces Molina added 16 markers for Petron, which dropped to 2-1.
Aside from Rondina, libero Denden Lazaro also didn’t play due right foot injury, although Buding Duremdes filled the gap with 27 digs and 10 excellent receptions.
