PETRON star Rachel Anne Daquis is set to bolster her reputation as the player with the most championships in the Philippine Super Liga.
The former Far Eastern University star was part of the Philippine Army team that bagged the commercial league's first three championships in the Inaugural Conference, the first-ever Grand Prix and the 2014 All-Filipino.
When the Lady Troopers left the league in the 2014 Grand Prix, Daquis joined Petron and won the championship that same conference as well as in the 2015 All-Filipino tournament.
If Petron rules the 2015 Grand Prix in the best-of-three finals against Foton, the fair-skinned spiker will have six Super Liga championships in her growing collection.
“Lahat ng pinaglaruan ko po nanalo ng championships," said the 27-year-old hitter after the Blaze Spikers disposed of Cignal, 25-20, 26-24, 20-25, 25-13, at The Arena in San Juan on Thursday night.
The cheerful volleybelle added she’ll go for a sixth title even if it takes 20 consecutive conferences to do it.
“Hanggang 20 pa, joke. Kaya po. Hangga’t kaya pa. Hangga’t bini-bless tayo ni Papa Jesus panindigan natin ang mga blessings na dumarating,” she said.
After going through the wringer to reach the finals, Daquis said Petron is not going to be complacent.
“Kumbaga dumaan talaga kami sa butas ng karayom (ngayong conference). Very unpredictable itong tournament na ito and lahat po malakas,” she said.
“But naging challenge sa amin kung paano namin malalagpasan ‘yung mga challenges na ‘yun. Unti-unti naman nakakaangat kami and ‘yun nga nakabalik kami sa championship,” she added.
