CIGNAL star Jovelyn Gonzaga will be out for the 2018 Philippine Super Liga Grand Prix due to an anterior cruciate ligament (ACL) injury on her right knee.

The opposite spiker from Jordan, Guimaras hurt the knee following an awkward landing during a PSL Grand Prix match against F2 Logistics on November 21.

Although doctors ruled out any major injury the day after the match, Gonzaga received the bad news a month later as soon as doctors were able to perform an MRI after the swelling went down.

“Na-MRI na siya and ang result is ACL nga,” confirmed Cignal head coach George Pascua.

Gonzaga’s absence is expected to be a big blow to the HD Spikers, who finished fifth in the recently concluded 2017 Grand Prix.

Still, the veteran mentor is optimistic that his prized spiker will bounce back stronger.

“Matapang naman ‘yan si Jov, mentally tough siya, kaya makakabalik din siya baka nga mas maaga pa (than expected),” he said.
