CIGNAL arranged a faceoff with Generika for fifth place after beating Navy, 25-19, 25-19, 25-21, on Saturday in the Philippine Super Liga All Filipino Conference at The Arena in San Juan.
Jeanette Panaga and Cherry Mae Vivas had 13 points apiece, while Mela Tunay had 11 markers for the HD Spikers, who needed 76 minutes to complete the win.
"We simply enjoyed the game. Our confidence is now getting high and we’re now ready to get the fifth place,” said Cignal coach Sammy Acaylar, who admitted that although it is a bitter pill to swallow, they will settle for fifth place.
"Impokrito naman ako to say that I'm not depressed," said Acaylar.
"But I don't take it negatively, I treat it as a blessing and move forward. Instead, we just have to forget the past, forget about our previous losses and take it as a challenge."
The battle for fifth will be on Sunday.
Pau Soriano and Carissa Martinez made nine and eight points, respectively, for the Standard Insurance Navy.
The Corvettes will play winless Amy’s Kitchen in the battle for seventh place.
