JANINE Marciano said she was more than willing to play beyond her role as outside hitter because she wanted Cignal to finally score a win, not because she was pushed to fill in the void left by Lynda Morales.
In a battle of struggling teams, Cignal wound up on top, scoring a five-set win over Generika on Tuesday in the Philippine Super Liga Grand Prix, thanks to Marciano.
Morales, a Puerto Rican middle blocker, left the match early with a left ankle sprain, but Cignal managed to take the win after two losses to start the season.

Marciano led all scorers with 17 points from 14 kills and three service aces in a match that lasted two hours and 17 minutes.
Marciano deflected the credit, saying Laura Schaudt, Mylene Paat and skipper Micmic Laborte also did well.
