    Unbeaten Foton shows might in handing Cignal first loss in Super Liga All Filipino

    FOTON handed Cignal its first loss, 25-22, 16-25, 25-22, 25-14, in the Philippine Super Liga All-Filipino Conference on Saturday at The Arena in San Juan.

    The Tornadoes, who swept Group B defeating Generika-Ayala, Cocolife and Cherrylume, kicked off the second round with at the expense of Group A leader HD Spikers.

    “I come and see every match and analyze Cignal,” said Foton coach Moro Branislav. “Cignal is a very good team and today my players played well, this is a big win for Foton.”

    Skipper Jaja Santiago put on a show with 26 points, from 18 kills, four blocks and four aces, for Foton in a match that took an hour and 47 minutes to finish.

    EJ Laure added 16 markers for the Tornadoes, while stalwarts Maika Ortiz and CJ Rosario chipped in a combined 14 points.

    “Jaja today played very good, she played like a true captain,” said the Serbian mentor.

    National team member Jovelyn Gonzaga led the way for Cignal with 14 points, while Royse Tubino added 11.

    The HD Spikers, who topped Group A, dropped to 3-1.
