JAJA Santiago exploded with 35 points to lift Foton to a 25-20, 25-23, 23-25, 25-15 win over Generika-Ayala on Saturday in the Philippine Super Liga All-Filipino Conference at the Filoil Flying V Centre.
The 6-5 Santiago came out firing on all cylinders after seeing limited action in the Tornadoes' conference debut to rest following her stint with Rebisco in the Asian Women's Club Championship.
The Tornadoes are now 2-0 to start off the conference, thanks Santiago's play against the Life Savers.
Foton bounced back in the fourth set after losing a tight third set, 25-23.
"We had better service. We committed a few mistakes. Maybe you'll see a few service errors but we didn't have big mistakes," said Foton coach Moro Branislav of the fourth set.
Santiago combined with EJ Laure for four answered points that sent the Tornadoes to a 14-8 lead in the fourth set, before finishing the match with four consecutive points.
Laure also had a good showing for the Tornadoes as she scored 16 points to backstop Santiago on the offensive end.
Patty Orendain contributed 13 points for the Life Savers, who fell to 1-1.
