PHILIPPINE volleyball stars have caught the attention of Thailand volleyball officials as Jaja Santiago, Jovelyn Gonzaga, Kim Fajardo and Aby Marano might just join Alyssa Valdez to play as imports in the Thai Super League this March.
In a text message sent by Philippine Super Liga president Tats Suzara, he said that Thai volleyball officials have inquired about Foton’s Santiago, RC Cola-Army’s Gonzaga, and F2 Logistics’ pair Marano and Fajardo.
"Some Xmas news... top Thai club wants Jaja to play in March Thai super league. Some clubs also interested with Marano, Gonzaga and Kim F," sent Suzara, who came from Thailand for an Asian Volleyball Confederation meeting.
But among the four PSL stars, only Marano might get to see action in the Thai Super League. During the tournament, Santiago and Fajardo will play for National University and La Salle, respectively, in the UAAP while Gonzaga will have a volleyball hiatus for eight months for her Candidate Soldier training course at the Training and Doctrine Center in Capas, Tarlac.
Thai authorities saw Marano during her stint in the Thai-Denmark Super League in March and the AVC Asian Women’s Club Championship in September, while, Santiago, Fajardo and Gonzaga were impressive in the FIVB Women's Club World Championship in October.
Meanwhile, Valdez was reportedly acquired by Thai team 3BB Nakornonnt as the team announced on its Facebook page on Saturday.
If Valdez will sign with the team, she will join rising stars Tichaya Boonlert, Nattanicha Jaisen, Kanjana Kuthaisong and Pimpichaya Kokram in 3BB Nakornonnt.
