COCO Life snapped a three-game losing skid at the expense of fellow newcomer Sta. Lucia, 22-25, 25-17, 25-23, 25-16, in the Belo-Philippine Super Liga Invitational Conference at The Arena in San Juan on Thursday.
Team captain Michele Gumabao finished with 16 points, while Arellano University standouts Jovielyn Prado and Regine Arocha added 13 and 11 markers, respectively, for the Asset Managers, who bagged their first win in four matches.
“Masaya, napakalaking bagay kasi ‘yung confidence namin ng team at ng mga bata medyo tumataas na kumpara noong mga nakaraan,” said Coco Life coach Obet Javier.
The Asset Managers, though, have a slim chance of moving past the elimination round although they have one more assignment against Cignal (2-1). Javier, however, is satisfied in seeing his wards’ progress
“Hindi namin tinitignan ‘yun (chances sa semis) kasi nakatatlong talo na eh,” said Javier. “Ang importante na lang sa amin ‘yung every game maipakita namin sa mga nanonood, sa admin na nag-iimprove ang team.”
“First time binuo kahit papano ‘di naman nawawalan ng resulta. Kumbaga laging meron progress eh,” he added.
Andrea Marzan chipped in eight points for Coco Life, while Mary Anne Esguerra and Therese Gaston added seven and six markers, respectively.
The Asset Managers had more attacks (52-36) and registered scored 13 points from the service line compared to three aces of Sta. Lucia.
Lourdes Clemente made 11 points and Ranya Musa added nine markers for the Lady Realtors, who dropped to 0-3.
