GRETHCEL Soltones came up with a fine performance in her return to the Philippine Super Liga, leading Smart to a 25-20, 25-19, 25-23 victory in the All-Filipino Conference on Tuesday at The Arena in San Juan.
Soltones, banned last year for violating the PSL's one-leagu policy, led all scorers with 17 points, all from spikes.
“Sobrang saya nakabalik po ako dito after one year,” she said.
Smart coach Roger Gorayeb, who’s also back in the league after five years, played down their rousing start.
“Ok lang naman, volleyball pa rin naman ito eh,” said the veteran mentor. “Volleyball doon volleyball dito. Para sa amin wala naman pinagkaiba, ito ang trabaho ng mga bata maglaro nang maglaro.”
“Masaya ako kasi pinagpepreparan namin lahat ‘yan kaya gusto ko lahat magamit para ‘yung confidence level nila tumaas nang tumaas,” he added.
Team captain Pam Lastimosa had eight points for Sta. Lucia.
