THE pressure has mounted for coach Parley Tupaz and the Iriga imports as they try to get back on track in the Super Liga Grand Prix.

The Oragons bowed to the Foton Tornadoes on Tuesday, hours after seven teams unanimously voted against overturning the league-imposed one-year ban on star Grethcel Soltones.

“Wala tayong magagawa, move on tayo kung talagang ganun. ’Wag natin ipilit, syempre may sariling rules ’yung PSL,” said Tupaz.

“Laking bagay na nawala si Grethcel. Syempre kung ako tatanungin, ’di ba napakalaking bagay ang nawala. Malaking tulong sa akin pag nandyan si Grethcel.”

Foton, Petron, Cignal, F2 Logistics, Generika-Ayala, Cocolife and Sta. Lucia all voted on Tuesday to uphold the PSL ruling banning Soltones for one year for playing in the All-Star match of rival league PVL.

Victoria Sports UST was represented at the meeting, but as a guest team does not have the right to vote.

Serbia’s Tamara Kmezic and Japan’s Saam Miyagawa showed the way for Iriga, as expected, but simply did not have enough against treble-seeking Foton.

Now they gear up for battle against Generika (1-3) and Tupaz hopes to get big numbers from the locals including Reynelen Ratera, Katherine Villegas, Karen Levina and Mikaela Bombita to make up for Soltones’ loss.

The former San Sebastian star scored 15 points in Iriga’s five-set win over Sta. Lucia in the opener.
