GRETHCEL Soltones lifted PLDT Home Fibr past winless Marinerang Pilipina, 25-21, 25-20, 18-25, 25-14, in the Philippine Superliga All-Filipino Conference on Tuesday at the Arena in San Juan.
Soltones came up with 22 points, 19 on kills, as the Power Hitters earned their second straight win after starting the tournament with a loss.
The former San Sebastian College star also had two blocks and made 12 digs and 10 excellent receptions.
Aiko Urdas had 15 points, while Jasmine Nabor dished out 21 excellent sets.
However, PLDT head coach Roger Gorayeb was far from convinced with the performance, especially with a lackluster third set.
“Masama pa rin ng nilalaro namin, hindi ko alam bakit. Kailangan kausapin ko ito ng masinsinan bakit ganun mga laro namin,” said Gorayeb “Parang out of focus pa rin sila, ang hirap. Hindi ganyang laro yung gusto kong mangyari after ilang months of practice. Walang steam, wala masyadong intensity maglaro.”
“Nananalo kami salamat pero bago manalo may mga wake up call pa, e,” he added
Judith Abil had 11 points and made 19 digs and 17 excellent receptions, while Chiara Permentilla delivered 10 points on top of 11 digs from the bench for Marinerang Pilipina, winless in four matches.
