IMUS Cavite -- Petron cruised to its third straight win and grabbed the top spot after it denied Generika, 25-17, 25-16, 22-25, 25-16, in the Philippine Super Liga Grand Prix on Tuesday at Imus Sports Complex here.
American import Stephanie Niemer led the way with 27 points, seven digs and nine excellent receptions for the Tri-Activ Spikers.
Petron improved to a league-best 7-1 but head coach Shaq delos Santos chose to focus on how to improve the team’s performance some more, especially after letting Generika gain momentum in the third set and extend what seemed to be a sweep.
"Hayaan lang natin No. 1. Ang kailangan ang performance namin gumanda pa," he said.
"Medyo nag-relax ang galaw namin. Medyo late na kami naka-recover and ang receive nag-collapase," added delos Santos.
Serena Warner and Aiza Maizo-Pontillas chipped in 13 and 12 points, respectively, for Petron.
Darlene Ramdin led 14 points for Generika, while Shaya Adorador added 10.
The Life Savers remained winless in eight outings.
