GINEBRA import Justin Brownlee welcomed schoolmate and Generika reinforcement Darlene Ramdin to the Philippines when the two bumped into each other during the Gin Kings’ game in the PBA Governors’ Cup semifinals.
“It was just briefly, I just asked her how she was and she said she’s okay and she said she likes it here,” Brownlee shared to SPIN.ph about his short chat with his fellow St. John’s University alum after the game.
The Gin Kings import, who has been in the country for almost four months now, also gave the Philippine Super Liga Grand Prix newcomer a brief on what more or less to expect as a star athlete in the country.
Brownlee, who happens to play for the most popular basketball club in the country, shared to Ramdin that local volleyball fans are sure to give her the taste of warm Filipino hospitality.
“I’m sure they’ll love her, she’s a great person, very humble and she’s a great volleyball player too like back in college,” he said of the spiker from Trinidad and Tobago.
Ramdin and the rest of the Life Savers will begin their campaign against defending champion Foton in the opening match on October 8 at The Arena in San Juan.
The opposite spiker will team up with Polina Liutikova of Ukraine and Generika locals Wensh Tiu, Ria Meneses, Chloe Cortez, Geneveve Casugod, and Rubie de Leon.
