GENERIKA-Ayala made a short work of Marinerang Pilipina, 25-18, 25-15, 25-23, for its first win in the 2019 PSL All-Filipino Conference on Tuesday at the Arena in San Juan.
The Lifesavers bounced back from the three-set loss to F2 Logistics on Saturday, keeping the Lady Skippers winless in two matches.
Patty Orendain led Generika-Ayala with 18 points off 15 attacks, two aces and a block, while making 16 digs and eight excellent receptions.
Ria Meneses and Fiola Ceballos delivered 11 points each, while skipper Angeli Araneta added eight markers. Jamie Lavitoria dished out 18 excellent sets and libero Kath Arado had 23 digs.
“Siyempre kakaumpisa palang ng liga. So malaking tulong samin, sa morale ng team para maka recover doon sa pagkatalo namin last time,” said Generika-Ayala head coach Sherwin Meneses.
“Kasi medyo pangit yung pagkatalo namin. Magandang morale para sa next game.”
After failing to register a block in the match against F2 Logistics, Generika-Ayala had eight kill blocks opposite Marinerang Pilipina, while posting a 43-31 differential in spikes.
“Kahit nakahabol ng third set yung Marinera, kumpiyansa naman kami na makuha yunng set,” Meneses said. “Sabi ko lang sa kanila, panindigan niyo yan, kayang kaya niyo naman yan.”
Dimdim Pacres was the lone player to score in double digits for the Lady Skippers, delivering 11 points.
Chiara Permentilla scored seven markers off the bench as they suffered another three-set defeat after being routed by Sta. Lucia.
