A day after its heartbreaking loss to RC Cola Army, Generika officially filed a protest against referee Jose Isidro Hugo following a series of contentious calls that the Life Savers believe cost them the match in the Philippine Super Liga Grand Prix.

"Nagsubmit na 'yung team manager ko (ng protest)," confirmed Generika coach Francis Vicente. "Galit na galit ang team manager ko sa ginawa ng referee."

On Thursday, Vicente argued against a call by Hugo calling a checked ball on RC Cola Army import Kierra Holst’s attack that tied the score in the fourth set, 19-all, amid protests by Generika players led by middle blocker Ria Meneses.

After a heated discussion with Hugo, the veteran coach and Ria Meneses were each slapped with one red card, awarding two automatic points to the Lady Troopers that wrapped up the set and the match, 25-20, 24-26, 25-20, 26-24, at The Arena in San Juan.

Vicente insisted that he blew his top not only because Hugo didn’t consult with his linesmen in confirming his call, but more so when the official shouted at Meneses.

The Generika coach even called for Hugo to be sacked, and is now putting everything in the hands of the PSL regarding their protest.

"Let us see what will happen," he said. "It's in the hands of the management and PSL."

Generika will face unbeaten Foton on Saturday in an out-of-town game in Malolos, Bulacan.
