GENERIKA-Ayala copped its first win in the Philippine Super Liga All-Filipino Conference as it stunned F2 Logistics, 19-25, 25-22, 25-16, 28-26, on Tuesday at The Arena in San Juan.
Patty Orendain had 18 points and 10 excellent receptions as the Life Savers made the win column after three losses.
"Lumabas lang talaga kanina ‘yung sinasabi ko sa mga player na magtiyaga tayo,” said Generika-Ayala coach Sherwin Meneses. “Kahit naman kasi noong natatalo kami, hindi naman bumaba morale namin.”
F2 Logistics looked to drag Generika-Ayala to a deciding set when it took a 24-21 lead but the Life Savers fought back and regained control, 27-26, before Mich Morente’s attack went wide to end the match.
“Nag-stick lang talaga kami sa programa, nakikita naman ng management 'yung improvement ng team, nararamdaman din ng players. Masaya kami, pero, may target pa rin kami,” said Meneses.
Team captain Angeli Araneta added 15, Mika Lopez and Fiola Ceballos had 12 markers each and Ria Meneses chipped in 11 for Generika-Ayala.
Morente had 14 points for F2 Logistics, Cha Cruz-Behag had 11 points, while Aby Marano, Ara Galang and Majoy Baron each had 10 markers.
The Cargo Movers suffered its second straight loss after bowing to Petron and slipped to 3-2.
