BACOOR CITY— Red-hot Generika-Ayala made a short work of Cocolife, 25-15, 25-17, 25-11, rolling to its sixth win in a row in the Philippine Superliga All-Filipino Conference on Thursday at the Bacoor Strike Gym.

The surging Lifesavers only needed 68 minutes to dispatch the struggling Asset Managers in straight sets as they leaned on Patty Orendain, Fiola Ceballos and Angeli Araneta anew.

Orendain and Ceballos poured 12 points each to carry the Lifesavers, who once reeled at the bottom with a 0-3 start, up to the third place with a 6-3 win-loss record having the second longest active winning streak next to unbeaten Petron (9-0).

Araneta and Mika Lopez chipped in nine points apiece, while setter April Ross Hingpit scattered the offensive loads with 34 excellent sets, while libero Kath Arado had another day at the office taking care of their floor defense with 25 digs and seven excellent receptions.

Generika-Ayala head coach Sherwin Meneses, who missed their past two games due to his recently-concluded FIVB coaching clinic level 2 in Indonesia, was warmly welcomed back by his wards with a sizzling six wins in a row.

“Siyempre sobrang saya natin pero yung effort nating laro talaga doon sa quarterfinals pero mas maganda yung momentum papasok,” Meneses said.

But for the coach, now that the Lifesavers are on the third seed, they should go for the second place when they battle F2 Logistics (7-2) on Saturday, 6 p.m., at the Caloocan Sports Complex.

“Siyempre nasa three ka na hangarin mo na yung two,” he said. “Ganun yung magiging target namin kasi pag may chance pwede i-grab kung manalo.”

Kalei Mau was once again the lone bright spot for the Asset Managers with nine points including 18 excellent receptions and 13 digs as they suffered their eighth loss in nine games.
