GENERIKA-Ayala head coach Sherwin Meneses used their three straight losses to treat the Lifesavers’ lapses and finally barged in win column in the 2018 Philippine Superliga All-Filipino Conference.
In a game where F2 Logistics was expected to vent its ire from a loss to Petron last Saturday, the Lifesavers shockingly added more frustrations on the skidding Cargo Movers with a 19-25, 25-22, 25-16, 28-26 victory to finally break a three-game skid on Tuesday at the Arena in San Juan City.
From a string of losses, Lifesavers persevered even when the Cargo Movers threatened to force a decider with just a point away from winning the fourth set, 24-20, and copped their first win with an 8-2 run.
Meneses said that their three losses to Foton, Petron and Cignal helped them achieve this huge upset that dealt F2 Logistics its second straight loss sliding to a 3-2 win-loss record.
Patty Orendain, Angeli Araneta, Fiola Ceballos, Mika Lopez and Ria Meneses did the damage to F2 Logistics combining for 68 points but libero Kath Arado was the unsung hero for taking care of their floor defense.
Arado, who did everything to keep the ball alive with 41 digs and 15 excellent sets, shared that she was talking earlier to her fellow libero Bia General and thought that the Cargo Movers were the only team they had yet to beat.
And for the UE stalwart, it felt that she beat De La Salle.
Iba talaga kasi kapag sila 'yung kalaban mo,” she added. “Names pa lang nila eh, masasabi mo na lahat sila superstars, lahat sila magagaling. Nakaka-intimidate pero nakaka-motivate din.”
Now that they finally got a big win against the reigning Invitational champion, Meneses hopes that this will be a big boost as they eye to at least land at the third to sixth places in the quarterfinals for better chances.
Dapat magtrabaho lang kami,” he said. Mataas 'yung morale.”
