BACOOR CITY — Generika-Ayala routed Marinerang Pilipina, 25-19, 25-23, 25-17, in the opener of the Philippine Superliga Invitationals on Tuesday at the Bacoor Strike Gym.
With Fiola Ceballos, Patty Orendain and Mean Mendrez leading the way, the Lifesavers dismantled the Lady Skippers in one hour and 25 minutes in the first match in Pool B.
Ceballos and Mendrez scored 12 points each, while Orendain added 10 markers for Generika. Skipper Angeli Araneta remains out due to a left knee injury sustained last conference.
“Siyempre maganda siyang momentum kasi first game namin so dapat manalo kami,” said Ceballos, who played despite shoulder pain.
“Sa first, sumasakit pa siya pero pag tuloy tuloy na, nakukuha na kasi dapat papainitan talaga parang machine,” she added.
Middle blocker Ria Meneses had seven points, Jamie Lavitoria dished out 13 excellent sets and made 15 digs, while libero Bia General had 28 digs and six excellent receptions.
National team member Kath Arado played sparingly.
Marinerang Pilipina committed 28 errors, while Generika-Ayala had 13 miscues.
Cesca Racraquin had 14 points and 21 digs for the Lady Skippers, who have lost 16 straight counting the winless stint in the previous conference.
