GENERIKA-Ayala snapped a two-game skid after it defeated Iriga City, 26-16, 25-15, 25-21, in the Philippine Super Liga Grand Prix on Thursday at The Arena in San Juan.
Croatian import Katarina Pilepic and locals Angeli Araneta, Chloe Cortez and Shaya Adorador powered the Life Savers, who improved to 2-3.
Pilepic had a game-high 20 points, while Araneta added 13, Adorador contributed seven and Cortez chipped in six.
“Well I just motivated them in terms of mindset kasi I think that’s very important in a team, ‘yung mindset nila towards any game,” said Generika-Ayala coach Francis Vicente.
“So yun nga, ‘yung mindset. They have to set their minds towards winning lalo na ngayon nanalo sila. So gamitin nilang motivation ‘yun to step up especially the locals,” he added.
American import Darlene Ramdin played sparingly as she's recovering from a bout with food poisoning.
The Life Savers outscored the Oragons in attacks (43-28), blocks (6-1) and service aces (7-4) in a match that took an hour and 20 minutes to finish.
Serbian reinforcement Tamara Kmezic finished with 15 points for Iriga City.
The Oragons played without Grethcel Soltones, who was slapped with a one-year suspension and a P50,000 fine after breaching PSL’s One League Policy. Soltones saw action in the Premier Volleyball League All-Star on October 29.
