DETHRONED champion Foton salvaged third place, defeating Cocolife, 25-17, 25-16, 25-17, in the Philippine Super Liga Grand Prix on Tuesday at The Arena in San Juan.

Skipper Jaja Santiago scored 17 points as the Tornadoes, who bowed to Petron in the semifinals, vented their ire on the Asset Managers.

Serbian import Sara Klisura scored 13 markers and Montenegrin reinforcement Dragana Perunicic chipped in 11 for Foton.

Although their three-peat dream turned into a nightmare, Foton coach Moro Branislav said he’s still happy with the outcome.

“Everybody likes to finish first but sometimes, maybe, (we’re) not lucky,” said the Serbian mentor, who only had one championship with the Tornadoes in four conferences.

American imports Shar Latai Manu-Olevao and Taylor Milton finished with 16 and 10 markers, respectively, for Cocolife.

The league newcomers Asset Managers registered their best finish in the PSL after ending up fourth.
