Foton taps new import Channon Thompson to boost playoff hopes in PSL Grand Prix

HOPING to regain lost glory, Foton tapped a new import in the middle of the season to beef up its roster in the Philippine Super Liga Grand Prix.

Team insiders confirmed Foton’s bold move in getting Channon Thompson, a national player of Trinidad and Tobago. She will turn 24 on March 29.

Thompson will replace American reinforcement Brooke Kranda starting in the second round of the elims.

Her presence will be a big boost for the former two-time champion, which faces Cignal four days after her arrival in the country.

Thompson saw action in different international tournaments including the Women’s Pan-American Volleyball Cup in 2010 and 2011, Women’s World Championship and the NORCECA Continental tournament.

She will beef up a team led by Canadian import Elizabeth Wendel, Serbian libero Katarina Vukamanovic and localsDindin Santiago-Manabat, Maika Ortiz and Jen Reyes.
