FOTON finally made the win column in the Philippine Superliga Invitational with as it took down PLDT Home Fibr, 25-15, 25-20, 25-18, on Monday at the Arena in San Juan.
Shaya Adorador showed the way with 15 points, nine excellent receptions and six digs as the Tornadoes, seeing action in the tournament without Japan-bound sisters Jaja Santiago and Dindin Santiago-Manabat, finally won after two losses.
CJ Rosario nailed five kill blocks and finished with 12 points, Elaine Kasilag had 10 points, while EJ Laure and Marian Buitre added eight markers each.
Foton coach Aaron Velez was relieved to finally get a win.
“Of course, we’re happy. Coming from a two-game deficit,siyempre magandang boost ‘to,” said Velez. “Bago kami magsimula sabi ko dun sa mga bata bigay natin yung best natin. Iba pa din yung may panalo.”
Foton tied PLDT at 1-2 before entering the second round, where the Tornadoes will be grouped in Pool D joining Sta. Lucia, Generika-Ayala and F2 Logistics.
The Power Hitters were without coach Roger Gorayeb, who was under the weather.
Jerrili Malabanan scored 11, while Grethcel Soltones struggled and wound up with only four points for PLDT, which also has two losses in three outings.
PLDT will be part of Pool C in the next round against Cignal, Petron and Marinerang Pilipina.
