PHILIPPINE Super Liga standouts led the cast of hopefuls in the tryouts for spots in the team to the FIVB World Club Women’s Championship held on Friday at The Arena in San Juan.

All 27 invited players, led by La Salle star setter Kim Fajardo and National University's Jaja Santiago, attended the one-day tryout conducted PSL coaches headed by training consultant Sammy Acaylar of Cignal.

Nothing is final after the tryouts, however, as the coaches need to sit down to choose the seven players who will team up with seven foreign players in the Philippine side for the September 3-11 showpiece.

“Wala pa, we will still decide and deliberate, ang dami ng pagpipilian namin, lahat sila malalakas but we will still see,” said the veteran Acaylar.

Foton stalwarts Maika Ortiz, Rhea Dimaculangan and Santiago showed up with the RC Cola Army trio of Jovelyn Gonzaga, Rachel Anne Daquis and Honey Royse Tubino, while veteran setter Tina Salak helped to facilitate the tryouts.

F2 Logistics stars Mika Reyes, Kim Dy, Kim Fajardo, Dawn Macandili and Majoy Baron also participated, as did Jeannette Panaga of NCAA champion College of St. Benilde, Janine Navarro and Djanel Cheng of Cignal and former Far Eastern University star Cherry Vivas.

Generika players Gen Casugod, veteran setter Rubie De Leon, UAAP Season 77 Rookie of the Year Kath Arado of University of the East and University of Santo Tomas’ Ria Meneses, Petron’s Aiza Maizo-Pontillas, Ces Molina and Jen Reyes, Standard Insurance Navy’s Pau Soriano and Janette Serafica and the duo of Ma. Loudes Clemente and Cindy Imbo from Amy’s round out the hopefuls.
