DEFENDING champion F2 Logistics dragged Petron to a deciding Game Three in the Philippine Super Liga Grand Prix after an inspired 25-17, 25-22, 25-19 victory on Thursday at The Arena in San Juan.
Venezuelan import and reigning MVP Maria Jose Perez finished with a game-high 20 points while super sub Ara Galang added 11 markers to lead the way for the Cargo Movers, who started strong and never once let up to atone for the shock Game One loss.
The winner-take-all finale of the best-of-three finals is set on Saturday.
“Mas prepared lang kami mentally ngayon kasi last time,” said F2 Logistics coach Arnold Laniog.
“This time siguro ‘yung mindset nakatutok talaga kasi usapan na this is our last game, kung hindi man palarin last game na so do or die for us, just give our best talaga,” he added.
Laniog pointed out that Game One was a learning curve and Game Three will be the time to put those lesson to good use.
“This team is the defending champion of this tournament,” he said. “‘Yung heart of a champion, since college ‘tong mga ‘to champion na ‘yang mga ‘yan tapos dito nag-champion na rin sa commercial league so siguro ‘yung mental toughness magiging key sa Game Three.”
Skipper Lindsay Stalzer finished with 15 points and 14 excellent receptions for Petron while Kath Bell, who scored 42 points in Game One, was held to 15 markers and 23 digs.
“Sabi nga namin, hindi naman kailangan totally ma-stop si Bell, kailangan lang ma-neutralize, ma-control lang ‘yung pag-earn niya ng points. Like last time talagang puro Bell na hindi na ma-stop talaga, kanina naman gumana (‘yung game plan),” said Laniog.
